Commonly Asked Questions by Our Potential Clients

Thank you for considering Wells Law Chicago for your legal issue. We know your time is valuable, and your legal issue is important. We require all potential clients to complete an intake form to receive a free case evaluation.

Now that you have provided us with some information about your legal concerns, you probably have more questions than ever. That’s why we’ve created this page of Frequently Asked Questions to address some of them for you while you wait for a follow-up email from us.

What’s next?

Now that you have completed the initial intake process with us, this information will be shared with the attorney. She, or someone on her behalf, will follow up with you in the coming days. You may be asked for additional information documents, or for your availability to schedule a telephonic or videoconference call with the attorney.

In the unlikely event you have not heard back within a week, please reach back out to us or email the attorney at [email protected]

What does a Free Case Evaluation Include?

As part of a free case evaluation, you will complete a client intake form. Once you do so, the attorney will review your information. You will not receive legal opinions or advice about your legal claim, which requires a more thorough analysis of your claim. If the facts you present may be a good fit for the firm’s existing case load, someone will contact you to either request additional information from you, or to schedule a teleconference with the attorney.

What if the Intake Specialist or Intake Form didn’t cover all of my important information?

This is to be expected. Many cases we handle at Wells Law – Chicago are fact-intensive. We start with the basics, and if your case is a good fit for our firm at the time and we believe we may be able to offer you representation, we’ll gather more information from you soon.

What if I have documents I want to share with the attorney?

Please do not submit documents unless or until requested. If your case is a good fit for our firm and we believe we can offer you representation, we’ll ask that you produce specific documents to us.

Will the attorney accept my case?

Due to our firm’s experience and reputation, we receive many inquiries. Unfortunately, we’re not able to accept every case. But we assure you that we’ll do our best to review your inquiry as promptly as possible and let you know your options as soon as possible. And if we do not offer you representation in this legal matter, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.

Please note that there are statutory limitations by which you must file a claim, or you may be forever barred from doing so, meaning you cannot recover for any losses you may have suffered if the statute of limitations passes and you have not filed a lawsuit. If you believe you have such a statutory limit in the near future, or another deadline in your case, we urge you to bring it to our attention and to consider getting a second opinion right away.

How much will legal representation cost me?

Because we are very selective about the cases we accept, in the vast majority of cases, we will get paid when our client gets paid at the conclusion of a case. This means you will unlikely be required to pay any upfront legal fees.

What if I have a deadline or statute of limitations?

There are statutory limitations by which you must file a claim, or you may be forever barred from doing so, meaning you cannot recover for any losses you may have suffered if the statute of limitations passes and you have not filed a lawsuit. If you believe you have such a statutory limit in the near future, or another deadline in your case, we urge you to bring it to our attention and to consider getting a second opinion right away.

Wells Law makes no representations about the applicable statute of limitations in your case unless we offer you representation.

Since I did an intake, do we have an attorney-client relationship?

Unless and until an offer of representation is made to you, and all such offers by Wells Law are made in writing, you are not our “client” and we do not represent you. That said, all communications, including any documents we may ask you to share, are strictly confidential and subject to privilege.

Who can I contact with questions?

You are welcome to contact the attorney directly. She is very involved in her cases (and potential cases) and manages her own inbox. [email protected]
