From Minneapolis with Momentum: Reflections on 2026 NACA/NCLC Spring Training

This past weekend, I had the privilege of spending several days in Minneapolis co-chairing the Class Action Intensive at the NACA/NCLC Spring Training. I was also honored to present alongside my colleague, Anna Haac, on the Ethics of Class Action Settlement — a topic that continues to evolve as courts, counsel, and consumers alike scrutinize fairness, transparency, and value in class resolution structures.

The weekend was a reminder of why gatherings like these matter so much. Beyond the CLEs and presentations, there is something uniquely energizing about bringing together advocates from across the country who are deeply committed to protecting consumers and advancing meaningful change through litigation. The conversations were thoughtful, candid, and remarkably forward-looking.

It was especially rewarding to reconnect with longtime friends and colleagues while also meeting new attorneys entering and shaping the space. The exchange of ideas throughout the conference was dynamic and compelling — from emerging litigation theories and settlement structures to practical discussions about ethics, access to justice, and the realities of modern consumer advocacy practice.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the opportunity to hear from some of the most respected thought leaders in the consumer advocacy community. There is tremendous value in being surrounded by attorneys who continue to push the field forward with creativity, rigor, and purpose. The “pearls of wisdom” shared throughout the weekend — both formally during sessions and informally in hallways, dinners, and late-night conversations — were invaluable.

I left Minneapolis feeling grateful, inspired, and reenergized for the work ahead. A sincere thank you to everyone who organized, attended, presented, and contributed to such an exceptional weekend. Already looking forward to the next one.
